Josh Aries is an award-winning action director and editor based in Vancouver, BC. Here, he honed his love for storytelling, movement, and collaboration through his appreciation of dance, martial arts, and comedy films.

Upon receiving his diploma at Capilano University's Motion Picture Arts program, he hit the ground running, working with world-renown stunt coordinators and performers, dance crews and choreographers, and the best talent that Vancouver has to offer.

His breakthrough film (co-directing with Daniel Irving) Mr. James is Dead has played across many film festivals across world--most notably winning the 2021 Leo Award for Best Editing for a Short Program on top of being nominated for 7 other categories. His latest venture in action comedy, REVERSE, netted him the Best Director Award at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival's 16th Mighty Asian Movie Making Marathon (also winning Best Cinematography for Marc Yungco, Best Performance by Curtis Lum, and Audience Choice for Best Performance by the cast).

He is currently residing in Vancouver, actively working to push Filipino representation in film and television with an exciting new collection of short films with other Filipino Canadian creatives.
